My Book Review

Book: The Boy In Striped Pajamas

 Author : John Boyne

Genre: Factual Novel

Summary: This story is both sad and very serious. It shows the love and friendship between Bruno (A German) and Shmuel (a Jewish prisoner) whom are the best of friends. Bruno is just a normal German kid who lived in a massive 5 storey house (if you counted the attic) but then his Dad gets a huge promotion and is asked to move to a place that is far away from anyone. At first Bruno hates his new home but soon he grows to like his new home and decides to do some exploring. After 1 hour of exploring the fence he comes across Shmuel whom is on the other side of the massive fence, and, from that point on they are best friends, more than they will ever realise...

Author's reason for the book: The reason behind this book is quite simply to show that in WW2 that a German can be friends with a Jew.

Recommend it to : I recommend this book to people whom want to know more about the history of the war, but also to people who don't realise how lucky we are to live this day and age. This book is suitable for ages 7 and up.

What I liked about it: I liked the fact it was loving and calm at one minute and then harsh and deadly the next.

What I didn't like about it: I didn't like the fact that it was so short and some of it I didn't quite get and,  just a bit too much showing not telling.

Overall: I score this book at 8/10
